The PM Society today announces the 6 companies shortlisted for ‘Digital pharmaceutical company of the year’ that will be awarded at the digital media awards (http://pmsociety.org.uk/awards/digital/2014/index) on Thursday 25th September at The Brewery, London.
The PM Society has joined forces with Symplur (http://www.symplur.com/) renowned global experts in engagement and effectiveness of social media in healthcare.
Results were derived by collating all tweets published in 2013 using the top ten hashtags in Symplur’s Healthcare Hashtag Project associated with ten leading causes of mortality. The top five pharma companies within each disease area were identified according to the frequency with which they were mentioned. The final results were determined by subsequently identifying those companies which featured most often in each category, weighting by rank, and ordering accordingly.
Symplur maintains the largest database of healthcare related Twitter conversations in existence via their role as the creator of the globally recognized Healthcare Hashtag Project. A total of 1,830,991 pieces of social media content (tweets) were analysed during this process.
The 6 shortlisted pharma companies based on this criteria (in alphabetical order) are:
Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Genentech (Roche), GSK, Novartis, Sanofi
The top ten therapy areas analysed were:
Breast cancer, Lung cancer, Prostate cancer, Stroke, Dementia and Alzheimers, COPD, Heart disease / failure, Lymphoma, Bowel cancer, Pneumonia
The winner will be announced at the PM Society digital media awards on Thursday 25th September.
