The Global Awards ceremonies took place in New York and Sydney on 15th November concluding on a series of international judging days and thorough evaluations. The bar was raised higher again this year and it was a tough decision in the final round, but the winners should feel very proud of their achievement.
This year’s judging criteria was divided into three parts for most of the categories. The Executive Jury scored entries against Objective/Idea, Creativity and Execution. A successful campaign would need to demonstrate excellence in all three of these aspects plus have that little extra spark. In the final round I selected the winners based on their innovation and a sense of humanity that comes through in the work. Impressively the UK agencies achieved 53% of the nominations from fewer than 18% of total entries.
It was great to see so much more use of tablet media in all categories. I particularly enjoyed seeing the use of video and animation pulled through into campaigns and on-line. This really brought the campaigns to life this year.
Congratulations to Langland for the amazing number of wins! Also well done to Havas Life Medicom who are a worthy finalist with GSK Infanrix Hexa, International Core Campaign.
Zuleika Burnett hosted the UK Grand Jury in London, and was a member of the Executive Jury in NYC 2013.
